Ambassador Bassam Rady, the official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic, said that President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi met today with Major General Walid Abu Al-Magd, Director General of the National Service Projects Authority of the Armed Forces, in the presence of Hisham Jazar, Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Bill Color” for the leather industry, and Sayed Farag, Chairman of the Board Management of “Show Room” Trading Company.
The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic stated that the meeting dealt with a review of the national project to establish the first factory of its kind for leather tanning in the Middle East and Africa, in terms of size and advanced industrial technology, as well as recycling leather waste and converting it into organic fertilizers and environmentally friendly products, in partnership with the Italian experience. .
The President directed the immediate start of the establishment of the factory, according to the highest technological standards in force globally, and the provision of all modern machines and industrial technologies necessary in this context, whether for tanning leather, or recycling its waste to manufacture fertilizers, in a way that qualifies Egypt to be unique in the region by possessing technological capacity and settling the industry. The President was also briefed on all the components of the giant project, in addition to the relevant feasibility studies, as this project will be integrated with other industrial areas, in the field of leather at the level of the Republic, and will contribute to the safe disposal of waste resulting from the leather industries, by recycling them, in line with international standards. In achieving the health and environmental requirements of the new industrial zones, as well as its economic returns by making the maximum use of these wastes.
In a related context, efforts to develop the leather industry in Egypt, such as shoes and others, were presented in conjunction with the leather tanning factory project, with the aim of expanding the localization of this industry in Egypt, where the President directed the importance of owning the industrial capacity to provide the best locally manufactured leather products, to citizens with high quality. And an appropriate price, taking into account what this offering will contribute to placing Egypt on the global map of the leather industry, especially in light of the competitive advantages this sector enjoys that qualify it to be a center for the leather and leather products industry in the region.
